Event: Canal and Tram Walk

Date of event: Sunday 7th June 2015

Members and friends are invited to take a walk along the line of the canal - and return by tram!

The walk of around 6 miles will start at Fairfield Junction, Droylsden, and follow the route of the Hollinwood Branch Canal through Littlemoss and Daisy Nook to Hollinwood and then the line of the Werneth Canal to Washbrook. This includes following by road sections that have long been filled in.

Return to Droylsden will be by Metrolink tram, changing in Manchester. An off-peak Day ticket for the Metrolink can be bought from a machine on the platform for £5.00.

Concessionary passes are valid for travel on Metrolink, but only for pass holders who live in Greater Manchester.

Meet at Lock Keepers Court, Droylsden (opposite Tesco) at 10.30 am on Sunday 7th June. Room for car parking at Lock Keepers Court. Lunch at Daisy Nook where toilets, hot drinks and snacks are available. Stout footwear and waterproof clothing advised.

The walk will pass the location of the long-gone Bradley Bent Basin that featured in the recent Newsletter and follow the course of the four locks that were in Hollinwood.
